RIFFEL- Dorothy Isabel (nee Hass)

Dorothy Isabel (nee Hass) Riffel, daughter of Harvey and Ethel (nee McDaniel) Hass passed away peacefully at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on Friday December 26, 2014 at 80 years of age. Dorothy was born on March 29, 1934 at Davidson, SK.

Dorothy Isabel (nee Hass) Riffel, daughter of Harvey and Ethel (nee McDaniel) Hass passed away peacefully at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on Friday December 26, 2014 at 80 years of age. Dorothy was born on March 29, 1934 at Davidson, SK. She was raised on the family farm by Hanley. Dorothy attended school in Hanley, and college in Saskatoon and then taught school in Rhein where she met Edgar Riffel. Dorothy was united in Holy Matrimony to Edgar Elmer Riffel July 4, 1959. Edgar and Dorothy moved to a farm outside of Yorkton and started a dairy farm, all the while continuing to work the Riffel family farm near Rhein. Dorothy is predeceased by Edgar in 2008; one daughter, Eleanor; and one son, Roy. Dorothy leaves to mourn her passing and to celebrate her life her brother, Glen (Elaine) Hass; her children, Duane (Heather) Riffel,  Audrey (Robert) Ashcroft, Trent (Crystal) Riffel, and Val Riffel; her grandchildren, Wendy Riffel, Shelly (JR) Archer, Bonnie Riffel, Skye Ashcroft, Autumn (Matthew) Bodnaryk, Ashley (Levi) Tillman, Rae Ashcroft,  Sarah Riffel, Jessica Riffel, Ryan Riffel, Brittany Riffel, and Dalton Riffel; her great-grandchildren, Catherine Riffel, Taylor, Shelby and Tyson Archer, and by members of her extended family and many good friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday December 30, 2014 from St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Fred Schneider officiating. Mr. Glen Hass, Dorothy's brother gave a heartfelt eulogy in tribute to his sister. The organist, Carla Laycock led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Just As I Am", "Day By Day", and "Amazing Grace". The pallbearers were George Riffel, Matthew Moore, Trinity Moore, JR Archer, Flora Moore, and Andrew Moore. Cremation followed the funeral service and the interment of cremated remains will take place in the Yorkton City Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy Riffel may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund #73 Smith Street East Yorkton, SK S3N 0H6.
