YORKTON – The Yorkton Maulers are looking for billet families to host their players for the upcoming season.

Billeting is a vital part of the team's success, as it provides the players with a home away from home while they pursue the sport of hockey.

Kaci Denesowych, the Billet Co-ordinator for the Maulers, told Yorkton This Week that the number of billet families needed varies each year depending on the roster.

"It depends on if we have returnees," said Denesowych, noting, "this year I think we had about 12 homes taking kids."

Denesowych said that the billet families can host anywhere from one to three players, depending on their preference and availability.

However, finding billet families is not always easy, Denesowych admitted.

"I find that we have a lot of good homes and their children grow up and then it starts being kind of hard to handle their kids' activities plus the Maulers'," said Denesowych.

She said that the ideal billet family is anyone who can offer the players a supportive and comfortable environment.

Denesowych encouraged anyone who is interested in becoming a billet family to contact her or the team's management.

"If you've ever thought of it or had it cross your mind even once, reach out to me," said Denesowych.

Those interested can e-mail Denesowych for more information or they can find the GM or President's e-mail on the Maulers' website.
