YORKTON – Members of the press, the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce and Farm Credit Canada gathered at the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce office on Thursday morning to hear an announcement from the organization.

"I'm pleased to announce today that the platinum sponsor for the 23rd annual chamber business dinner is Farm Credit Canada," said Annelle Bodnarik of the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce Events Committee, noting that the dinner is set to be held on October 5 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Cultural Centre.

"The dinners guest speaker will be Murad Al-Katib," said Juanita Polegi, Executive Director of the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce, adding, "Mr. Al-Katib is a well known Saskatchewan entrepreneur."

"Murad Al-Katib is the president, CEO and board member of AGT Food and Ingredients Inc. A strategic business and financial thinker in an international agri-food commodity trading business," read a biography of Al-Katib on the Government of Canada's official website.

"As the President, CEO and board member of AGT food and ingredients, he has received recognition and many awards for his entrepreneurship including being named as [Ernst & Young] World Entrepreneur of the year in 2017, the Globe and Mail's Innovator CEO of the year 2020; and the Canadian Western Agribition's top 50 in Canadian Agriculture in 2021," said Polegi.

"Murad is a passionate advocate of Canadian Agriculture – and about entrepreneurs championing compassionate entrepreneurism and working to expand the participation of women, youth and First Nations in business start-ups," said Polegi.
