YORKTON — The Yorkton Brick Mill Heritage Society is set to launch the 2025 tour season with a grand opening event at the historic Yorkton Brick Flour Mill on May 20 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Located at 120 Livingstone St., the Yorkton Brick Flour Mill is Saskatchewan’s only remaining brick flour mill, standing as a testament to the province’s agricultural and industrial heritage. Built in 1898, the site has been carefully preserved for public tours.
Visitors can take part in a 50-minute guided tour covering all three floors of the 127-year-old mill, which still houses its original milling machinery. The tour begins with a short introductory video and features large outdoor storyboard signs detailing Yorkton’s milling history and its connection to family farms.
Tours this season will be led by Samuel Willem, a first-year university student with a passion for heritage education and community engagement.
Regular operating hours begin May 22:
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday — 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Saturday — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Tours may be arranged by special appointments available upon request
Admission fees are $5 per adult and $15 per family, with free entry for students. Proceeds support operating costs and heritage programming.
The Yorkton Brick Mill offers visitors an opportunity to explore local history through a fully guided experience at one of Saskatchewan’s most significant heritage landmarks.
