YORKTON — Thirty-five organizations in Yorkton are benefiting from Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan’s charitable gaming grants.
The groups received a combined total of $50,892.20.
According to a release from the provincial government, the grants support nonprofit and charitable groups that conduct licensed gaming activities such as bingo, raffles and poker tournaments. Organizations receive 25 per cent of the net revenue from these events, up to a maximum of $100,000 per year.
Yorkton’s share is part of $2.1 million in total grants distributed province-wide during the quarter, with funding reaching over 1,100 groups across 230 Saskatchewan communities. Among them, Regina-based organizations received more than $425,000, while Saskatoon groups collected nearly $561,000.
The provincial government says the grants are designed to strengthen community initiatives and are calculated based on financial reports submitted by eligible organizations. More information on the program and its licensing process is available through the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority.
