As the province and country continue their rebound efforts in the fight against COVID-19, Premier Scott Moe said the federal government’s oil and gas relief programs “missed the mark” in terms of helping the sector recover.

With it being budget time, municipalities are looking at expenditures as well as revenue, including mill rates. The mill rate is the amount of tax payable per dollar of the assessed value of a property.

As of May 28, 2020, there are two new cases of COVID-19, bringing the provincial total to 639. One new case is in the North region and one is in the Saskatoon region. Of the 639 reported cases, 61 are considered active.

Favourable weather in the province this week meant substantial seeding progress in all regions. Eighty per cent of the crop is now seeded in Saskatchewan, slightly ahead of the five-year average of 78 per cent (2015-2019) for this time of year.

If it doesn’t seem as if the news is getting better on the COVID-19 front, it’s likely at least partly due to how stressful days take their toll on our perspectives.
