BUFFALO NARROWS – A man hid in a crawl space of a house in a failed attempt to evade police.

On March 8, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Buffalo Narrows RCMP received a report of an assault and robbery at a home on the 1000th block of Seright Place in Buffalo Narrows.

Police say their initial investigation determined two individuals were involved in that report. Police gathered information to confirm the identity of one of the suspects involved, a 20-year-old man, who was believed to still be inside the residence on Seright Place.

Buffalo Narrows RCMP went to the residence to locate and arrest the suspect. The occupants of the residence refused to answer the door for police. Police obtained a Feeney Warrant and entered the residence to search for the suspect. They cleared the residence but continued to hear movement from the crawl space inside the residence. A further search resulted in officers locating evidence indicating the possibility of firearms being present so they set up a perimeter around the home to secure the area and told neighbours how to maintain their safety.

Buffalo Narrows called in additional Saskatchewan RCMP resources to assist including Dillion and Turnor Lake RCMP, the RCMP Emergency Response Team [ERT] and RCMP Police Dog Services [PDS].

While positioned outside, officers called-out to the occupants of the residence. An adult woman exited the home and she was arrested without incident.

RCMP ERT and PDS were able to successfully extract the man from the residence without incident and take him into custody. There were no other occupants inside the residence. No firearms were located inside the residence.

Police charged a 20-year-old man from Buffalo Narrows, with robbery, resisting arrest, assault with a weapon, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. He appeared in court in La Loche on March 9.

A 26-year-old woman from Buffalo Narrows was charged with possession of stolen property. She is scheduled to appear in court on May 10 in Buffalo Narrows.
