LA RONGE – Preliminary hearings have been set for five of the six people charged in 24-year-old Edgar Ratt’s death.
Hearings for Cameron Ross and Gracie Isbister are scheduled for May, Charmaine Charles is set for July, and the two young offenders is in June. They are all charged with first-degree murder.
A charge of first-degree murder has been withdrawn against Katelyn Halkett and she is back in court on Feb. 2 on a charge of break and enter.
The six were arrested in July 2022 after Ratt died in hospital. La Ronge RCMP had received a report of an assault at a home on Jack Bell Place in Bell’s Point at about 3:15 a.m. on July 21, 2022. Officers found Ratt inside injured. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The charges against the accused haven’t been tested in court.
