North Battleford man accused of killing mom committed to stand trial

NORTH BATTLEFORD – A preliminary hearing for a North Battleford man charged with second-degree murder in the death of his 72-year-old mother wrapped up Wednesday in North Battleford Provincial Court and he has been committed to stand trial in Battleford Court of King’s Bench.

Walter Geering elected to be tried by a jury. A trial date will be set.

Geering was charged in connection with the death of his mother, whose body was discovered at their family home in North Battleford on June 22, 2022. He was arrested two days later. 

Two psychiatric assessments were done on Geering to see if he was fit to stand trial. 

The charge against Walter Geering hasn’t been tested in court.
