Onion Lake woman charged with concealing body of baby

A woman is charged with concealing the body of a child.

ONION LAKE – A woman has been charged in connection to the death of an infant on Onion Lake Cree Nation.

Tashia Turner, 33, of Onion Lake Cree Nation, was arrested on March 7 and charged with concealing the body of a child.

Onion Lake RCMP say that they had received a call on Jan. 5, 2022, about a sudden death of an infant at a home on Onion Lake Cree Nation.

The preliminary investigation by Onion Lake RCMP and the Lloydminster RCMP General Investigation Section determined that Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes would take over the investigation. RCMP Major Crimes worked closely with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service to investigate the cause and circumstances of the death. The North Battleford RCMP Forensic Identification Section also assisted with the investigation.

Turner was released from custody on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on April 19.
