Regina pair faces trafficking and weapons charges after bust

Police seize cocaine, weapons, and a lot of cash.

REGINA – A recent drug bust involving the SWAT team and the RPS Street Gang Unit resulted in two arrests, and a large quantity of drugs and cash seized.

The incident occurred on July 29 when police concluded an investigation at a home on the 1900 block of Winnipeg Street. They seized two firearms and ammunition, 28.3 grams of cocaine, $16,322 in cash, a bullet-proof vest and items associated with drug trafficking. 

Christopher Maytwayashing, 40, and Jayde Boyle, 36, are jointly charged with two counts possession of a prohibited firearm while prohibited, and possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with. They also each face single counts possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, and unsafe storage of a firearm.

Maytwayashing is further charged with eight counts possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order and possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

Boyle is further charged with two counts possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order; and single counts possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and breach of a probation order.

Both accused made their first court appearances yesterday in Regina Provincial Court.
