Saskatoon police arrest second person in Feb. 3 homicide

The body of a 25-year-old man from Alberta was found inside the Saskatoon home.

SASKATOON – Police have charged a second person with first-degree murder in a homicide on the city’s west end Feb. 3.

The 34-year-old Saskatoon man, Edin Dion Vrazalica, appeared in court Thursday and was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear in Sasktoon court on Feb. 22 by CCTV.

Vrazalica was arrested by Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section on Feb. 7.

Last week, police arrested Chantal Lee McLaren, 32, and charged her with first-degree murder.

Saskatoon police say the victim is a 25-year-old man from Alberta and they aren’t releasing his name at his family’s request. The suspect and victim were known to each other.

The victim’s body was found inside a home in the 600 block on Lisgar Avenue early in the morning Feb. 3 when police executed a search warrant.

His body was found after a 34-year-old man was shot by a police officer. Members of the SPS Tactical Support Unit were helping officers with a search warrant for an aggravated assault investigation involving firearms. The man was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Saskatchewan’s Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
