REGINA – An early morning assault and robbery resulted in a group of teens locking their victim out of his own home.
Police responded to the call just after 1 a.m. on Feb. 27 in the 800 block of Empress Street.
“Information received was that the male’s residence keys were stolen and that the assailants were now in his residence,” said RPS in a media release. “Police were dispatched to the call and arrived at the residence to observe a vehicle driving away at a high rate of speed.”
With concerns of safety in mind, police did not give chase, but later found the vehicle with three people inside parked on 13th Avenue and Forget Street. The trio was arrested, and a search uncovered items stolen from the victim’s residence.
Facing charges of robbery and break, enter, and commit are Keanu Denomie, 19, and two young males aged 17 and 16 (who cannot be named under the youth Criminal Justice Act).
“The youths are also jointly charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000,” RPS said.
Desnomie is scheduled to make his first court appearance on these charges today, while the youths will appear in Youth Court on Feb. 28.
