Christopher Thomas Godlien, 37, of Saskatoon, and Courtney Dawn Kozak, 33, of Martensville were arrested May 12.

SASKATOON – Saskatoon Police Service’s Guns & Gangs Unit seized weapons and drugs and arrested two people following an investigation into drug trafficking.

Christopher Thomas Godlien, 37, of Saskatoon, and Courtney Dawn Kozak, 33, of Martensville were arrested May 12. The two made their first appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court Monday and were remanded in custody. The pair are due back in court Wednesday for show cause hearings.

SPS say that their investigators became aware of a suspect believed to be trafficking illicit drugs who was also in possession of various guns.

Officers conducted surveillance in Saskatoon and Martensville, observing the suspect driving a white, 2017 GMC Sierra Denali making frequent, quick stops, consistent with drug trafficking activity.

On May 12 at approximately 9 p.m., police executed a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Chaparral Boulevard in Martensville. Godlien attempted to flee, but was apprehended a short distance away with the help of the Canine Unit.  Prior to being taken to SPS Detention, he was taken to hospital for treatment of his minor injuries caused by the police dog. Police located and seized a large amount of methamphetamine and cash on him.

Around that time, Kozak was arrested in the 2100 block of Faithfull Avenue in Saskatoon and found to be in possession of cocaine.

At the home police found three shotguns, one that was sawed-off, a rifle, ammunition, 463 grams of methamphetamine, 12.46 grams of cocaine, 8.62 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 99 Xanax pills, 68 hydromorphone pills, $2,376 cash, a machete, a folding knife, and an expandable baton. Police also seized a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali and a 2007 Lexus IS350.

Godlien is charged with 10 drug trafficking and possession related offences, 17 firearms related offences, and possession of the proceeds of crime. Kozak is charged with 10 drug trafficking and possession related offences and possession of the proceeds of crime.
