Two Macklin residents face drug trafficking and weapons charges

MACKLIN – Two Macklin residents face numerous drug trafficking and weapons-related charges after Unity RCMP raided two homes on Mirror Road in Macklin on Sept. 14 as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

Craig Kostiuk, 53, is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, five counts of unlicensed possession of a firearm, nine firearms related offences and unlawfully sell, transport and distribute unstamped tobacco.

Janelle McCullough, 36, is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and four firearms related offences.

Kostiuk and McCullough are scheduled to appear in Unity Circuit Court on Nov. 20.

In one of the homes, police found two rifles and a prohibited magazine, and in the other home they seized two handguns and three rifles.

Police also seized suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, psilocybin, unidentified pharmaceutical-style drugs, drug trafficking paraphernalia and cash at the residences. Officers are working on identifying the drugs and totalling the amounts, as there were a significant number of exhibits seized during the search warrant.

Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services, Luseland Police Department and Provost, Alta., RCMP assisted executing the search warrants.

Unity RCMP say they continue to investigate.
