ROSETOWN – Two men have been arrested following a serious assault against a man in Rosetown on Saturday.

RCMP say that on Nov. 11,  just before midnight, Rosetown RCMP received a report of a robbery and serious assault that occurred in Rosetown.

The police investigation determined there was an altercation between a group of individuals in the 1st Street West area in Rosetown. A man stole a cellphone from a woman. The same man pointed a firearm at several individuals during the incident. A male victim was then assaulted and is now being treated in hospital for injuries described as serious in nature.

The next day, Rosetown RCMP arrested  33-year-old Corey Rushkewich and 29-year-old Randy Rushkewich, both from Rosetown. They are each charged with one count, aggravated assault. Corey Rushkewich is also charged with three counts, pointing a firearm and robbery.

They appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Nov. 14. They were remanded in custody until their next appearance on Nov. 16 when Corey Rushkewich is expected to enter a plea and Randy Rushkewich has a bail hearing. Crown is opposed to their release.
