MEADOW LAKE – A woman who had assault and robbery charges dropped earlier this year, and similar charges dropped last year, has been arrested and faces related charges, again.
Brenda Partridge, 38, had an appearance in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on May 13 to face new charges of uttering threats and robbery, and three counts of failing to comply with a release order. She was remanded in custody until May 27 for a bail hearing.
One of her trials that was scheduled in February 2024 didn’t proceed after all charges against her, and her three co-accused, were withdrawn, according to court officials.
Partridge, along with Lindsay Bouvier, Sheldon Partridge, and Jayce Patenaude, were arrested in July 2023 and accused of holding a man and woman captive in a basement. Police said the man was assaulted and robbed. The woman managed to escape.
In that incident, Partridge was charged with two counts of forcible confinement, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using a firearm in an offence, two counts of assault with a weapon, four counts of robbery and two counts of uttering threats. Bouvier had faced the same charges. Sheldon Partridge faced two charges each of forcible confinement and assault with a weapon. Patenaude was charged with two counts of forcible confinement.
A year prior, Brenda Partridge's January 2022 trial was halted after key witnesses failed to show in court to testify. She was facing charges of aggravated assault, forcible confinement, and possession of stolen mail.
Meadow Lake RCMP had received a call that a woman was in distress at a home on 3rd Avenue West in Meadow Lake. Police found an injured woman inside and say that she was threatened and assaulted by multiple people earlier that day and then forcibly confined. She was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Inside the home, police had noticed a large quantity of mail they said was stolen in a string of robberies of mail boxes.
In that incident, Partridge was charged with aggravated assault, forcible confinement, and possession of stolen mail.
After those charges were stayed, the Meadow Lake Crown Prosecutor told SaskToday.ca that they had until February 2024 to bring the charges back before the court if the witness was located. An arrest warrant was issued for the witness and RCMP tried to track her down.
