July 7th, 8th and 9th is soon approaching and with it the annual All Folk’d Up Music Festival in Montmartre, Saskatchewan. The official lineup is out and it is sure to be a weekend full of incredible music from a variety of genres.
The Festival starts out at 7pm on Friday with some lively Celtic charm from Regina band, West of Mabou, followed by another Saskatchewan favourite Brad Johner and the Johner Boys. Friday headliners, and local country sensations, The Hunter Brothers will be up at 9:30 pm and the night will close with a mash-up of rockabilly swing from Punch Drunk Cabaret.
Everything begins again on Saturday at 12pm. The afternoon will feature folk duo, Twin Peaks, indie-inspired singer-songwriter Del Suelo and French Canadian Annette Campagne that delivers a folk/rock combination that shoots right to one's soul. Call Me Mildy brings out the harmonica and blues at 3:45 pm, followed by Regina’s own post-rock group Desert Island Classic. If that isn’t enough for you the evening is full of Canadian bands that are sure to excite. Red Haven is a one-of-a-kind tribute to the swing bands of New Orleans and Andino Suns captures both the passion of Chile and the earthiness of the Prairies in their music. Acclaimed Bluegrass/Folk band Dead South hits the stage at 9:30 and the night comes to a roaring close with “Butt-Kicking Celtic-Rock” band Dust Rhinos.
This year All Folk’d Up is bringing out all the stops with a Sunday lineup that incorporates blues, soul, jazz, R&B and rock n’ roll. Following a Cowboy Service, Creek City takes the stage at 12:00 pm, followed by Jaecy Bells. World-renowned soul and R&B star Nuela Charles comes on at 2:30pm. and Flowshine will close out the Festival will some “Good-vibe Rock n’ Roll”.
