Iris Eileen Pick September 25, 1917 - July 25, 2011 With sadness we announce the passing of Iris Pick who passed away peacefully at the age of 93 at Estevan Regional Nursing Home. Iris was the 7th child of 9 born to Jennie and William Dixon. She was born and raised on a farm just east of Macoun, Saskatchewan. On November 2, 1938 Iris married the love of her life (John) Jack Pick. Mom was a homemaker, and together they raised 2 sons and 2 daughters on the farm. In 1968, when their son married and took over the farm, they moved to Midale, Saskatchewan. Iris moved again, to Sussex Arms in Estevan, where she lived for 11 years until she entered the Estevan Nursing Home for the past year. Family was very important to Mom, and she enjoyed getting together for family gatherings. Most memorable was Mom and Dad's 40th anniversary in November of 1978. Mom was very active in the United Church, until it was closed, and then she attended Midale Baptist Church while she could. Volunteering with the Midale Catering Club was also very important to her. Our family is grateful for the many fabulous hand-stitched quilts and bedspreads that Mom took pride in quilting for all of her children and grandchildren. In her later years she enjoyed the time spent with friends over coffee. She will be deeply missed, but we take comfort that she has gone to be with her Lord and Saviour. Mom was predeceased by her parents, William and Jennie Dixon; her husband John (Jack); her son Robert; brothers and sisters Janie Hodgson, Isabel Hudson, Kathlene Breen, Alice Hudson, William Dixon, Ina Rolfs, Robert Dixon and sisters-in-law Mary Dixon and Grace Dixon. Mom is survived by her son Jack (Donna); daughters Janet (Harvey) Kvile and Joyce Hoium; sister Sheila Dies; sisters-in-law Madge Arts and Elva Pick; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service was held at Macoun Evangelical Missionary Church, Macoun, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Charlie Bowen officiating. Lunch followed at Macoun School. Donations in memory of Iris may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer Society or a Charity of Donor's Choice.
