            Elegance filled the room as the honoured graduates of 2017 paraded arm in arm with their proud parents through the beautifully decorated, candle-lit Kipling High School gymnasium on Saturday, June 10, 2017. The 21 celebrated graduates ceremoniously marched to the songs “Don't Blink” by Kenny Chesney, “Time” by Dean Brody, “Old School” by Hedley, “Photograph” by Nickleback and “Where I Come From” by Montgomery Gentry followed by the singing of O Canada, with piano accompaniment by Ms. Sherri Singer. 

            Special greetings from the Government Officials including Member Of Parliament for the Souris-Moose Mountain Constituency, Dr. Robert Kitchen and our former MLA for the Moosomin Constituency, Mr. Don Toth were delivered to the Graduating Class of 2017.

            Pastor Andrew Switzer delivered a meaningful Ministerial Message to the group of graduates, giving encouragement and wishing them well for their new endeavours.

            The Town Of Kipling Deputy Mayor, Pat Jackson, shared her speech with the graduating students ending with wise words of advice of being safe at their graduation celebration.

            Prairie Valley School Division Student Leadership Award was presented by Mrs. Terry Berglund to Rebbekah Bright.

            Tara-Lee LaRose received the Achievement Award sponsored by Mr. Ben Grebinski, presented by Mr. Dale Reed, Superintendent of Education, School Operations.

            Kate-Lynn Weisbrod shared a heartfelt and comedic Message From The Staff with the students and their guests. The students were presented with a special gift in the form of a take-out box (Happy Meal and Timbit boxes). The boxes were filled with quirky gifts including Tissues (for when they blow it), Glow in the dark band-aids (to remember that there will always be a solution to fix things) and a sentimental photograph.

            “Our High School teachers became more like friends and good influences to us rather than just someone drilling us with information and lectures. Your kind words and good advice created many bright futures for us,” Sydney Toth and Cheyanne Doud proclaimed in their reply to the Staff. 

            Gift bags and a sentimental speech were given during the Band Presentation by Mrs. Bonnie Dash.

            Mrs. Pennie Kimery presented  Emily Dubois with the Plainsview Credit Union Scholarship.

            The Knights of Columbus Windthorst Council Bursary, presented by Mr. Rhett Larsen, was awarded to Tara-Lee LaRose.

            Rebbekah Bright received the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 History Scholarship, presented by Mrs. Kara Taylor.

            Mrs. Kara Taylor presented the Andres Trucking Math Award to student Emily Dubois.

            Dylan Penner was honoured the Student Success Award, presented by Mrs. Terry Berglund.

            Mrs. June Dash presented Emily Dubois with the Toth Pharmacy Science Award.

            The award for the Andy Kimery Scholarship, presented by Ms. Susan Long, was received by Tanaya McKay.            

            Students Tanaya McKay and Wade Roppel portrayed each of the students with a hilarious rendition of how each student came into the world, impending plans and how the student body actually sees them in the near future as they presented their Spotlight speech.

            Seed Hawk Inc. Scholarship Fund, presented by Ms. Alana O'Callaghan was received by Sean Barath.

            The Samuel Rochford Daley Memorial Bursary for Graduating Class of 2016 was awarded to John Dayman and received by Tanaya McKay by presenter Mrs. Ruth Allan.        

            Mrs. Pat Highmoor presented Tara-Lee LaRose with the Chittronics Bursary.

            Mr. Mark Cowan presented the R.M. of Silverwood No. 123 Scholarship to Emily Dubois.

            Cheyanne Doud accepted the Anzy Memorial Scholarship from presenter Mrs. Kara Taylor.

            Following the deliverance of awards, scholarships and bursaries, Brynn Bourhis and Dylan DeDecker  informed the packed gymnasium of previously awarded scholarship recipients. Sydney Toth has been awarded a $500 Entrance Scholarship from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Rebbekah Bright has been awarded a $500 Pipestone Athletics Scholarship. Tanaya McKay has been awarded a $1000 Entrance Scholarship from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Madeline Steele has been awarded a $2000 Entrance Scholarship from the University of Regina. Emily Dubois has been awarded a $2000 Entrance Scholarship from the University of Victoria.

            Tara-Lee LaRose has been awarded a $3000 Entrance Scholarship from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. She was also awarded a $10,000 Renewable Entrance Scholarship from the College of Agriculture and Bioresources. This is $2500 for each of the 4 years she maintains a 75% average at the University of Saskatchewan.

            Principal, Mr. Larry Lesiuk, and Vice-Principal, Mr. Garth Shoemaker brought the award part of the ceremony to an end as they delivered diplomas to the graduates of 2017. The Valedictorian's for Graduation 2017, Tara-Lee LaRose and Quinn Wilton addressed the students and their guests with memories of their years together and the unforgettable moments in class. “I know you will all move mountains and become the best at what you pursue, so with that being said, us, and Dr. Seuss will leave you with one more thing, when you ask will I succeed? Yes you will indeed, 90 and 3/4 percent guaranteed!”

            Some of students will be starting their new adventures in new educational surroundings including the University of Victoria,University of Saskatchewan, University of Regina and Sask Polytech to name a few.

            The audience of family and friends were treated to a video montage of moments past and present pictures of the Graduating students, once young now ready to take on the world.

            The packed gymnasium of guests stood for the singing of God Save The Queen with the piano  accompaniment of Ms. Sherri Singer.

            The Graduating Class of 2017 shared a final parade with their escort to the songs “Glory Days” by Bruce Springsteen, “Something To Be Proud Of” by Montgomery Gentry, “I Love This Life” by Lo Cash, “Good Riddance” by Green Day and “Days Go By” by Keith Urban.

            The Mistress and Master of Ceremonies, Brynn Bourhis and Dylan DeDecker kept the ceremony and award events in order with well versed introduction speeches.

            Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2017. May your futures be bright and adventure always around the corner!
