REGINA — Beginning in Fall 2024, the University of Regina will offer a new scholarship for academically high-achieving domestic students.
The Chancellor’s Scholarship will be awarded annually to 14 undergraduate students who meet specific criteria, including a minimum admission average of 95 per cent.
“Investing in a university education is one of the most important decisions a person can make. The University of Regina provides exceptional educational, research, and hands-on learning opportunities to develop career-ready graduates,” said Pam Klein, University of Regina Chancellor.
This scholarship will be available to domestic students who apply directly from high school or as a high school graduate who have not completed any post-secondary courses (other than courses completed during high school, such as the High School Accelerated Program).
Scholarship recipients will receive $10,000 per year for up to four years, plus on-campus housing for their first year. One of the scholarships will be reserved for Indigenous applicants and one for out-of-province applicants.
Donors contributing to this scholarship are part of the newly created Chancellor’s Community, a philanthropic network of individuals who are dedicated to transforming the lives of talented U of R students through education, breaking barriers and empowering the next generation of leaders.
“The new Chancellor’s Community welcomes donors to help make the University of Regina an even more desirable option for domestic students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarly aptitude in high school,” Klein said.
The Chancellor’s Scholarship enhances the financial supports the University of Regina currently provides to make post-secondary education more accessible for domestic students. Over the past two years, close to $11 million has been awarded to nearly 7500 domestic undergraduate students through donor-funded and U of R awards. During this same time, the U of R has provided automatic entrance scholarships of nearly $3 million to 1500 domestic undergraduate students.
