RM of Senlac council passed a motion to maintain the streets for the Village of Senlac for the summer season.

Many trophies were presented at the Unity Bowling Association’s annual awards night, including one to Mary Hennings, Edith Olson, Paul Beaudry, Harold Graham and Don McKillop as the overall winners of the fall league. Overall winners of the winter league were Elsie Duncan, Edith Olson, Jim Dickson, Fred Schell and Maurice Housen.

Over 80 ladies were present for the 30th anniversary celebration of the St. James CWL of Wilkie.

Purchase of a typewriter for St. James Charteris School was approved at the Kerrobert School Unity meeting.

20 years ago

KD Welding came home from the Oilympics in Grand Prairie, Alta., with a gold medal. Owner Kelly McLellan, assisted by Kevin Martin, won an event in which they had to create a casing bowl. Competitors were judged on time, accuracy and strength.

After helping the McLurg Broncs’ volleyball team finish fourth and his club team second in the province, Grade 11 student Dustin Elder was heading to Austin, Texas with Team Sask to play in the U.S. Junior Olympics.

A 38-year-old Unity male driver was charged after brake-torquing outside the Main Street Munchies convenience store in Unity and then slamming into the building. The impact threw a young customer out of her seat and into the ice cream counter a few feet away. She was taken to hospital, treated and released.
