NORTH BATTLEFORD - The City of North Battleford has awarded the contract for a new ammonia ice plant chiller for the Access Communication Centre.

Council got word at their meeting Monday that the project to replace the ice chiller has been awarded to Canadian Climate Refrigeration and HVAC for the total of $108,941.50, including PST of $6166.60.

Council had authorized administration to approve awarding of the ammonia ice plant at their meeting on Dec. 11, up to a budgeted amount of $125,000, so this came in considerably lower than what was budgeted.

According to a city memo, a request for quotations was compiled and posted on SaskTenders and on the city website, and three proponents had submitted applications prior to a Dec. 14 closing date. The City Manager approved the final awarding of the ice plant.

The work to install the ice plant is scheduled to happen sometime between May and July, after the ice is removed for the summer.
