REGINA - Canada Day 2023 is already off and running in Regina.
The day began at Wascana Park in front of the Saskatchewan legislature with a pancake breakfast. Several federal and provincial MPs and MLAs were on hand to flip pancakes and hand out water bottles to the long line of people who showed up at 8:30 a.m., with the meal free of charge to all those who showed up.
Closer to the lake, runners and walkers were participating in the annual RunRegina Canada Day Run and Walk, happening between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The day promises to be packed with activities, with food booths lining the street in front of the Legislature. There will be music throughout the afternoon on the main stage, headlined by Cory Marks at 8:30 p.m. tonight. There is also local entertainment on the Regina Public Library Family Stage from 12:15 to 5:15 p.m.
Once again the Classic Strongman Championship League will be back in Wascana Park for a 10th year, with athletes from several provinces competing.
The day culminates at Wascana Park with Canada Day fireworks at 10:30 p.m. tonight.
Over at Government House, the annual Canada Day celebration hosted by Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty will take place with a number of performances planned for the grounds between 1 and 4 p.m. today.
