MOOSE JAW – Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Business diploma program and the Moose Jaw Warriors joined forces to host a sport management case competition for over 115 high school students. Students from 14 southern Saskatchewan high schools competed for a chance to win over $23,000 in prizes, including tuition for one semester of Sask Polytech’s Business diploma program at Moose Jaw campus and Moose Jaw Warriors tickets and merchandise.

Working in teams of three-to-four, the high school students were challenged to develop and present their proposals for a case scenario based on the business management of the Moose Jaw Warriors. Their ideas were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges from the Moose Jaw Warriors and Sask Polytech.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Moose Jaw Warriors on this exciting event to showcase the Business diploma program and field of sport management,” says Stephen Kirzinger, program head for the Business diploma sport management specialty. “The sport management business case competition not only provided high school students with a chance to win tuition for our Business diploma but also allowed them to gain valuable experience and insights into the dynamic world of sport management. Thank you to all the high school teachers and students who participated and congratulations to the competition winners!”

“We were excited to be part of Sask Polytech's case competition,” says Jaret Schneider, director of Business Operations with Moose Jaw Warriors. “Creating a scenario for the competition was a fun challenge and I’m confident the students were able to gain some experience and insight into the world of sport management. I want to thank Stephen and the Sask Polytech Business program for allowing the Moose Jaw Warriors to be a part of a fantastic day!”

This collaboration between Sask Polytech and the Moose Jaw Warriors supports the development of future sport management leaders in Saskatchewan. By providing a platform for young minds to showcase their potential, this partnership aims to inspire and empower the next generation of sport management professionals.

In order to accommodate the numerous teams, two judging rooms were set up, resulting in two winners for each position.
