Regina doctor facing fraud charges

Investigation into doctor after Ministry of Health reported billing irregularities.

REGINA - Regina Police are reporting a 53-year old doctor is arrested on fraud charges in Regina.

The charges follow what police call a a lengthy and detailed investigation by the Regina Police Service Financial Crimes Unit has resulted in fraud charges for a woman who owns a practice in Regina. 

Investigators began looking into the file after the Ministry of Health reported what they believed to be billing irregularities. The offences occurred between 2016 until 2019.   

The doctor turned herself in on Nov. 27. The woman is charged with fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000, identity theft, and criminal breach of trust. Her first court date is in January.
