Pie in the Face is one aspect of Community Day in Rocanville planned for June 1.

ROCANVILLE — Rocanville Town Council learned at their meeting Wednesday just how much it will cost to fix a pair of pumps after receiving a quote from Regina-based CDM ElectroMech Technical Services.

“There was one for the water treatment plant — a transfer pump — and one lift station pump,” explained Town Administrator Tanya Strandlund.

The cost of repair comes in at $4,236.12 (plus taxes and delivery), but is a far better option than simply replacing the units with new models.

“To replace the one was going to be $26,000,” Strandlund said.

Pie in the Face

Preparations are being made for the upcoming Community Day in Rocanville, and one event in particular is sure to draw a crowd.

“Community Day is set for June 1, and we’re slowly starting to get some events happening during that,” Strandlund noted. “The Town Council is going to be hosting a pie eating contest. I don’t know exactly how we’re going to run it yet, but there’s going to be some pie and people are going have to eat it really fast without their hands!”

Previous Community Day activities have included live entertainment, fireworks, pancake breakfast, a kids zone and car show and shine.

Rec Centre WiFi

Options regarding WiFi at the Rocanville Recreation Centre are being explored, with town staff researching the best option for the money.

“We have a few more questions in regards to data that we have to answer,” Strandlund explained.
