The most amazing thing about a well-run hackathon is watching highly motivated teams of brilliant engineers achieve, in a single day, what might take some companies weeks or months.

Greetings from Terminal C at SFO. I'm heading home after an extraordinary hacker weekend at AGI House. On Saturday, we had about a hundred gifted engineers break into teams to build prototype multi-agent AI systems. On Sunday, a similarly-sized group spent the day working on systems to empower autonomous drones.

The most amazing thing about a well-run hackathon is watching highly motivated teams of brilliant engineers achieve, in a single day, what might take some companies weeks or months. If you've got an idea you'd like to realize as a proof of concept or MVP, just reach out. We do these almost every weekend.

Last week, there were a fair amount of discussions about AI safety, which led to discussions about how smart AI really is. My Sunday essay, How Smart is AI? Exploring the Intelligence of ChatGPT and Beyond, offers a few different ways to think about the issue.

As always your thoughts and comments are both welcome and encouraged. Just reply to this email. -s
