Third quarter public losses report focuses on two entities

The province made the announcement Monday of public losses.

REGINA - The Saskatchewan government is reporting public losses for the period Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2023 for ministries and Treasury Board Crowns, and two entities in particular were impacted.

One was Creative Saskatchewan, which in August 2023 had a situation in which banking information was fraudulently changed by someone impersonating a client. The result was a payment redirected to an inappropriate bank account in the amount of $331,568.80. 

The matter was reported to the police and is under investigation. Creative Saskatchewan has recovered $118,336.10 to date.

The other entity impacted was Saskatchewan Housing Corporation. From 2019 to June 2023 there was suspected misappropriation of funds for payments made to a fake vendor for work orders not completed, in excess of $5,000.

According to that public loss report, the Cumberland House Housing Authority manager was terminated and the matter remains under police investigation.
