Bloemen races to silver at Norway World Cup stop

STAVANGER, Norway — Canadian Ted-Jan Bloemen won the silver medal today in the 10,000-metre race at the ISU speed skating World Cup. The Calgary native achieved the silver after two fourth place finishes in the 5,000-metre event.

STAVANGER, Norway — Canadian Ted-Jan Bloemen won the silver medal today in the 10,000-metre race at the ISU speed skating World Cup.

The Calgary native achieved the silver after two fourth place finishes in the 5,000-metre event.

He finished with a time of thirteen 12.33.

Bloemen finished behind gold medalist Davide Ghiotto of Italy (13:02.71) and ahead of Italy's Michele Malfatti (+10.18), who won bronze.

Canada also took home a pair of top-10 results earlier in the day.

Laurent Dubreuil, of Levis, Que., finished in sixth place of the men’s 500-metre competition, while in the women’s 1,500m-metre race Ivanie Blondin of Ottawa came away with a seventh-place finish.
