Abdul Kanneh, who had a 102-yard interception return for a touchdown that anchored the Ottawa Redblacks' season-opening 16-12 road win over the Edmonton Elks, was named the CFL's top performer Tuesday.

Also selected as the second and third top performers, respectively, were Ottawa linebacker Avery Williams and running back Brady Oliveira of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Kanneh registered two interceptions against Edmonton. He returned his second for the pick-six to erase a three-point deficit, then added a game-saving tackle — one of six he had on the night — to end the contest at the one-yard line.

Williams had a career-high 14 tackles for Ottawa, the third time he's made 10 or more in a contest.

Oliveira ran for 126 yards on 22 carries in his first CFL start, Winnipeg's 19-6 home win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Thursday night.

The Bombers selected Oliveira in the second round, No. 14 overall, in the 2019 draft and he cracked the club's opening-day roster that year before suffering a season-ending leg injury.
