Update: Police find rollover, firearm discharge connected

MOSQUITO, GRIZZLY BEAR'S HEAD, LEAN MAN FIRST NATION AREA - Second update, June 11: Following the RCMP's investigation of a rollover and firearm discharge on Highway 4 on May 15, two people are facing charges.

As a result of continued investigation, Battlefords RCMP determined the May 15 rollover and firearm discharge on Highway 4 are connected.

On May 16, Battlefords RCMP arrested a woman at a residence on Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation.

A 38-year-old woman, from Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation, is charged with:

  • two counts, fail to comply with release order;
  • one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
  • four counts, dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm;
  • one count, operation while prohibited;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • four counts, discharge firearm with intent;
  • four counts, assault with a weapon; and
  • one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized.

She appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on May 20.

Resulting from further investigation, 39-year-old Frazer Stone, from Saskatoon, is charged with:

  • four counts, discharge firearm with intent;
  • one count, assault causing bodily harm;
  • four counts, assault with a weapon;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized;
  • one count, disguised with intent to commit offence; and
  • one count, fail to comply with release order.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Battlefords RCMP continue to work to locate and arrest Stone and ask members of the public to report all sightings and information about his whereabouts.

Frazer Stone is described as:

  • Height: 5 ft 11 in
  • Weight: 170 lbs
  • Eye colour: brown
  • Hair colour: brown
  • Other descriptors: letters tattooed on his left ankle, unknown tattoo on his right elbow, scar on his left arm

Update, May 16: Police are looking at whether there is a connection between two recent incidents on Highway 4 and are asking for the public's help.

Police are investigating a collision on Highway 4 that happened on Thursday.

On May 15 at approximately 9 a.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of a rollover on Highway 4 in the Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation/Red Pheasant Cree Nation area.

The four occupants of the vehicle were transported to hospital, two with injuries described as serious in nature and two with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

Battlefords RCMP continue to investigate the rollover with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

Battlefords RCMP are also investigating a report of a firearm discharge on Highway 4 around the same time of the collision and are looking into any possible connection between the incidents.

Investigators are working to locate a white pick-up truck in relation to this investigation. A photo of it is shown.

Original post, May 15: Battlefords RCMP are currently on the scene of a serious collision on Highway 4, in the area of Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation and Red Pheasant Cree Nation.

As this investigation is in preliminary stages, police do not have additional details to share at this time.

The highway is currently closed for an undetermined amount of time. Detours are in place and motorists should expect delays in the area. Drivers are asked to slow down and follow the instructions of emergency personnel on scene.
