SWEETGRASS FIRST NATION - Battlefords RCMP are investigating a firearm discharge on Sweetgrass First Nation.
On June 2 at approximately 9:10 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of an injured male on Sweetgrass First Nation.
Officers responded, along with local EMS, and located the injured male. The male was transported to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.
The investigation determined an interaction occurred between the male and a group of unknown individuals. As a result, a firearm was discharged, and the male was injured. The group of individuals are believed to have fled in a grey Chevrolet Avalanche truck. Their direction of travel is unknown.
Battlefords RCMP continue to investigate.
Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the Sweetgrass First Nation area on the evening of June 2, or who sees the grey Chevrolet Avalanche truck, is asked to contact their local police by dialling 310-RCMP. If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, police say they will notify the public.
