On June 1, Battlefords RCMP were on the Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation investigating a traffic complaint.
MOSQUITO, GRIZZLY BEAR'S HEAD, LEAN MAN FIRST NATION - A man is facing charges following alleged firearms-related offences.
During the evening of June 1, Battlefords RCMP were on the Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation investigating a traffic complaint.
While they were doing so, they observed a male exit a residence with a firearm in his hands. Officers told him he was under arrest and to drop the firearm. He did not comply and ran back into the residence.
Officers contained an area around the residence. A warrant was obtained to enter it, and with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team, the male was later arrested without incident. Officers located and seized a sawed-off firearm in the residence.
As a result of the continued investigation, a 38-year-old man, from the Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation, is charged with:
- one count, resist peace officer;
- one count, point a firearm;
- one count, possession of a firearm while prohibited;
- one count, failure to comply with probation order; and
- one count, possession of a prohibited weapon.
He is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on June 2.
