Two Sask. residents arrested after RCMP find loaded rifles in Lloyd

A search resulted in the seizure of multiple firearms, including two loaded rifles, as well as ammunition.

LLOYDMINSTER – Two Saskatchewan residents were arrested after police got a call about several individuals acting suspiciously near a Lloydminster business downtown. Officers responded immediately and located four people matching the description by the caller.

During the police investigation, police discovered that they were in possession of firearms. Three were arrested without incident and a fourth was located in Onion Lake, Sask.

A search resulted in the seizure of multiple firearms, including two loaded rifles, as well as ammunition.

Germain Gamble, 26, of Onion Lake, and Aimery Thunderblanket, 21, of Sweetgrass First Nation, Sask., along with Shauna Couston, 25, of Fort McMurray, Alta., and Kyle Soosay, 35, of Kehewin Cree Nation, were arrested. They face multiple charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,possession of weapons contrary to an order, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, resisting arrest, and possession of fentanyl.

Gamble, Soosay and Thunderblanket were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody with a promise to appear in court. Couston was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on July 15.
