The Battlefords North Stars must wait at least one more game to finish off the Flin Flon Bombers. The Bombers won 2-1 in overtime in game four for their first win of the series. It was the third straight game in the series to go to overtime.

The curling season for Robyn Silvernagle and her team is not done yet. Team Silvernagle has received the invite to go to another prestigious event, the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling 2019 Player’s Championship.

The opposition NDP were swift to condemn the provincial budget brought down by Finance Minister Donna Harpauer on Wednesday. The NDP issued a news release in which they deemed the provincial budget “off-balance and out of touch.

After some big wins, John Paul II Collegiate senior boys’ basketball team is going to Hoopla. The team beat teams from Melfort and Meadow Lake to get into the tournament. Referring to the last game, Coach Shalen Fox said the boys played well.

The Saskatchewan government was touting balanced books as they tabled their 2019-20 budget Wednesday. The province is reporting a surplus of $34.4 million in the budget handed down by Finance Minister Donna Harpauer. Revenue is reported at $15.

As spring draws closer, so does the incumbent graduation of the class of 2019. In keeping with annual tradition, on March 13 the senior students, facilitated by the staff of the school, hosted the yearly bingo fundraiser.

The Battlefords North Stars have drawn first blood against the Flin Flon Bombers to open their best-of-seven SJHL quarterfinal series. They were up 3-0 in the series with a chance to clinch the series heading into game four Wednesday in Flin Flon.

Battlefords MLA Herb Cox gave some recognition to the team of Robyn Silvernagle in the legislature.
