It was another busy weekend in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League with a full slate of games Friday and another busy night Saturday.

The latest individuals to be named as Battlefords Citizen of the Year and Junior Citizen of the Year were honoured by the community Friday night.

For 47 years Elmer Woytiuk has instructed and trained citizens of the Battlefords in the art of karate. His classes are known as “KarateDo” and, according to Woytiuk, what he teaches is the traditional form of Japanese style karate.

City of North Battleford officials say a new snow blower is contributing to a big spike in efficiency and productivity. It is a LM 220 loader-mounted snow blower that was purchased in the spring of 2015 and arrived in the fall.
