The death of Anne (nee Witt) Becker of Humboldt occurred on Thursday, November 11, 2010, at the Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK. She was 87 years of age. Anne was born to Albert and Helena (nee Klassen) Witt at their farm 6 miles South of Carmel. She attended Valley View School and helped raise her siblings on the farm. Anne worked at the post office and general store in Carmel. On June 17, 1947, she married George Becker at Immaculate Conception Church, south of Carmel. Anne and George moved into Humboldt where they lived and raised their family of six. In 2008, due to failing health Anne left her home, eventually moving to St. Mary's Villa. In her younger years, she was a good athlete and brought home medals for her running ability. Throughout her life Anne was active. She enjoyed bowling, curling, bike riding, skating and cross country skiing even in her 70's. She was also a gifted home maker and loved cooking, sewing, gardening (both vegetable and flowers) and with her cheery outlook she usually would sing while she worked. Supporting her children in their extracurricular activities: hockey, figure skating, piano or whatever they were doing gave Anne a great deal of pleasure. She also found time to socialize, they often had company and enjoyed visits with family and friends. In her later years, she played Canasta with a group of close friends. A member of the CWL and the St. Elizabeth's Hospital Auxiliary allowed her to be more involved with her church and community. She was a positive person who exemplified a strong faith. Anne will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 63 years, George Becker of Humboldt; her 3 sons and 3 daughters: DENNIS (Chantal) Becker of Saskatoon and their family Jason (Jamie) Becker and their children Braxton and Bella and Lee (Vanessa) Becker and their children Johnathon and Jayda; DONNA (Tom) Miller-Dodsworth of Pitt Meadows, BC, and son Jeremy Miller; DUANE "Buster" (Judy) Becker of Prince Albert and family Carly (Aaron) Anderson and their son Jackson, and Megan Becker (Steve Sutherland); GWEN (Gerald) Wourms of Saskatoon and family Susan (Nolan) Penner and Mathew Wourms; MARY (Frank) Wiegers of Denare Beach and family Josh Wiegers, Brodie Wiegers (Jelisa Kerfont) and Lisa Komaransky and her children Emanuel and Kail; SHAUN Becker of Saskatoon; two sisters: Madeline (Marvin) Cooney of Saskatoon, and Doreen (Dave) Novecosky of Humboldt; two sisters-in-law: Pat Witt of Humboldt and Helen (Joe) Plag of St. Gregor; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Helena (nee Klassen) Witt; one daughter, Elizabeth Anne (infancy); her brothers and sisters: Agnes, Edward, Joseph, Leonard, Wilfred, Phyllis, Clara, Lorraine (John), Marvin and Lorne. A Prayer Service for Anne was held on Sunday, November 14, 2010, at 7: 30 p.m., presided by Nestor Trach with organist Dolores Hinz. Readings were done by Madeline and Marvin Cooney, with Marvin also delivering the eulogy. A Funeral Mass was offered on Monday, November 15, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Emile April. Both services took place at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt. Others taking part in the Mass were: Johnathon, Jayda and Jason Becker, cross bearers; Pam Albers and Albert Cooney, scripture readers; Susan Wourms, Carly Anderson and Megan Becker, gift bearers; Walter German, intentions; Marie Aubin, organist.
