Arnold William Eggerman

November 19, 1923 - October 16, 2012

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Arnold Eggerman on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, in White Rock, BC. He was 88 years of age. Arnold was born near Fulda, SK, on November 19, 1923, to William and Mary (nee Gilles) Eggerman. He was the fifth child of six sons. In his earlier years, Arnold helped build The Pas, Manitoba airport and was very proud that a young age he was promoted to a supervisory position. Arnold also worked in the bush cutting trees in Kapuskasing, ON, and northern Saskatchewan. Arnold married Margaret Frerichs and together they had four children: Diane, Deborah, Percy and Perry. He began farming in the Watson area with his brother Henry, then eventually with his two sons. Arnold did everything on the farm from being a labourer to being an inventor. Arnold loved being a farmer and was proud to be successful. It was on the farm where he worked the hardest, and was the happiest. In his spare time, dad enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Arnold was passionately involved with the Alcoholics Anonymous organization and formed strong and lasting friendships that he cherished deeply. When Dad forged a friendship with someone, it was lasting and genuine. Most important to him was his family. Arnold loved his family. He was very interested in how his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were and was very proud of them all. His hope was that they would be happy in whatever they did. He was very involved in their lives. The Catholic Church was an important part of his life. During the last months of his life, he was unable to attend church but still received communion in his home. Arnold spent the last two years of his life living with his eldest daughter, Diane and husband, Glenn in White Rock, BC. He received many visits from his family and friends during that time. Arnold will be profoundly missed by all who knew him and will never be forgotten by his children and their families: Diane (Glenn) Ludwig of White Rock, BC; Deborah Eggerman (Larry Graham) of Bruno, SK; Percy (Ingrid) Eggerman of Watson, SK; and Perry (Cindy) Eggerman of Spalding, SK; his former wife, Margaret; his grandchildren: Chris Stadnichuk, Zoe Stadnichuk, Chad (Minna) Eggerman, Sonia Eggerman (Trevor Gates), Karen Eggerman (Dominic Hauck), Jordon (Lacy) Eggerman, James Eggerman (Kristel Leier), Amanda (Justin) Hoffman and Jessie Eggerman (Collin Indzeoski); his 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Martha Eggerman, Hattie Eggerman and Johanna Eggerman; and by his nieces, nephews and cousins. Arnold was predeceased by his parents, William and Mary (nee Gilles) Eggerman; his brothers: John; Raymond; Albert (Sis); Henry; and Lawrence (Johanna Friested); his nephews, Lorne, Darryl and Roland; and his niece, Shirley.
