Loehr, CatherineIt is with profound sadness that the family of Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth (nee Moorman) Loehr of Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility, Imperial, SK, (and formerly of Humboldt, SK) announces her death on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at her residence. She was 98 years of age. Catherine was born on November 15, 1913, to George and Johanna (nee Kuper) Moorman in St. Gregor. On June 15, 1938, Catherine married Ed Loehr. After a few years of farming in the Muenster area, Catherine and Ed moved to St.Gregor. Together they raised a family of three children, Norman, Loretta and Joan. In 1959, they moved into Humboldt. In June of 1962, Ed passed away. Catherine worked at the Humboldt Co-op Hardware until she retired at the age of 65 years. Catherine resided in Kinsmen Court in Humboldt, and then later moved to Evergreen Country Home in LeRoy. To be closer to her family, the past four years Catherine lived at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Facility at Imperial. She had many interests which included sewing, gardening, flowers, bowling, knitting and making siwash sweaters. Catherine was an active member in her community, belonging to the CWL and the Senior Citizen Club in Humboldt. Her faith was extremely important to her attending daily mass and watching her church programs on TV. Catherine devoted her life to her family with love and caring. Catherine will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her three children: Norman (June) Loehr of Regina and family, Warren Loehr (Laura Burr) of Toronto, Lynette (Pat) Nishnik of Regina and their daughters, Jasmine and Kyla, and Darren Loehr (Josh Olsen) of Saskatoon; Loretta (Ted) Obrigewitsch of Craik and family, Jacquie (Wade) Straub of Craik and children, Tristyne, Kendra, Kelsey, Jane Spencer of Moose Jaw and children, Randi and Tanner, Scott (Sheila) Obrigewitsch of Calgary and children, Kara, Isaac, Sophie and Katherine; Joan Strueby of Manitou Beach and family, Russel of Lillooet, BC, Brad (Margaret Lukowich) Strueby of Calgary and children, Hannah and Casey, and Bruce (Dorinda) Strueby of Martensville and children Greta and Wyatt. Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Ed Loehr; her parents, George and Johanna (nee Kuper) Moorman; brothers and sisters: Sophie (Ray) Fisher; George (Margaret) Moorman; Joe (Anne) Moorman; Ida (Vic) Timmerman; Bertha (Louis) Linder; and son-in-law, Lorne Strueby. The Prayer Service for Catherine was held at St. Augustine R.C. Church on Monday, December 26, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. Scripture readers were James Wasserman and Elaine Zimmer. A eulogy was delivered by Brad Strueby and Jacquie Straub. A Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine R.C. Church on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. concelebrated by Fr. Emile April, Fr. Joseph Gyim-Austin and Fr. Matthew Tuffour-Amoah. Others taking part were: Kayla Nishnik, cross bearer; Lynette Nishnik and Tristyne Straub, scripture readers; Jasmine Nishnik, intentions; Kendra and Kelsey Straub, memorial book attendants; Jane and Randi Spencer, gift bearers. An honor guard was formed by the St. Augustine CWL. Pallbearers were: Russel Strueby, Brad Strueby, Bruce Strueby, Wade Straub, Darren Loehr, Scott Obrigewitsch and Tanner Spencer. Interment took place at St. Peter's R.C. Cemetery, Muenster, SK. Memorial donations may be directed to either Alzheimer Association or St. Peter's R.C. Cemetery Fund.
