It is with saddened hearts that the family of Charles "Charlie" ("Bun") Edward Hall of Humboldt, SK, announces his death on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Humboldt District Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was 77 years of age. Charlie was born on April 4, 1935, to Robert "Charlie" and Mary "Margaret" (nee Lorenz) Hall in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Humboldt. He was raised and educated in Humboldt, where he completed Grade 11. For a few years, Charlie was employed by the CNR. In 1960, he began a 34-year career working at the Saskatchewan Liquor Board store in Humboldt, retiring in 1994. Charlie was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time on his acreage on the outskirts of Humboldt. As well as fishing, his favorite pastimes included three H's - hockey, hunting, and horses. For many years, Charlie played hockey with the Humboldt Indians, the team that ultimately became the Humboldt Broncos. By far, his greatest passion was horses; he enthusiastically participated in innumerable chuckwagon and chariot races. He also enjoyed watching home videos and particularly loved the ones in which his children were following in his footsteps - riding horses. "Charlie, Dad, Bun, Great White Hunter, Mr. Chuckwagon will be sadly missed by all. Happy trails and good hunting Dad and Grandpa." Charlie is survived by his five children, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren: Cynthia (Myles) Stumborg of Humboldt and family, Kyle (Janelle) Stumborg and children Kashton, Aaliyah and Daxzen, Braden (Christine) Stumborg and children Hailey and Hunter, and Jan (Shaun) Stuckel and children Kohen and Bentley; Kelly (Alvin) Tarnowski of Saskatoon, SK, and family, Eric and Kynan; Curtis (Arlene) Hall of Blackie, AB, and family, Morgan, Jannelle and Coulton; Greg Hall of Saskatoon; and Colin Hall of Calgary, AB; two sisters: Lucille Bauml of Winnipeg, MB, and Shirley (Bill) Ternan of Pincher Creek, AB; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Margaret. The Funeral Service for Charlie was held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Humboldt, on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 1:30 p.m., led by Kelly Tarnowski and Bud O'Connor. The urnbearer was Kyle Stumborg. An honor guard was formed by members of the Royal Canadian Legion. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons Kyle, Braden, Morgan, Eric, Kynan and Coulton. Interment followed at the Humboldt Public Cemetery, Royal Canadian Legion section. Memorial donations may be directed to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Humboldt Wildlife Fed. & Gun Club.
