Clarence "Ole" Jacob StuckelOctober 16, 1922 - January 31, 2012
The death of Mr. Clarence Jacob Stuckel of Cedar Gardens, Saskatoon, SK, (and formerly of Watson, SK), occurred at St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon, SK, on Tuesday, January 31, 2012. He was 89 years of age, and the last surviving member of his generation. Clarence was born on October 16, 1922, to Mathias and Agnes (nee Rick) Stuckel in Humboldt. He grew up on the family farm in the Daylesford district near Lake Lenore, and attained his elementary education at a rural school in the area. At a young age, Clarence entered the workforce. His places of employment included a tire factory and a logging camp, both in Ontario, and a sawmill at Chelan, SK. On June 27, 1950, Clarence married Marie "Mary" Bast in Lake Lenore. Six children, five daughters and one son, were born to them. Clarence and Mary farmed in the Daylesford area until 1964, when they moved to Watson. There, they continued farming and raising cattle. Clarence was a cattleman at heart, and loved that part of his mixed-farm operation the most. For 11 years, he also drove a school bus in the area. While living in Watson, Clarence was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and the Knights of Columbus. On May 7, 2001, Mary suffered a fatal heart attack. Soon after, Clarence moved to Saskatoon where he spent his final years. There, he enjoyed meeting new friends, dancing, and bowling. One of the many things he was known for in his earlier years was his love of Colt cigars. (Anonymous) Clarence will be lovingly remembered by his six children, 17 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren: Kathy Fetter of LeRoy and family, Crystal (Pat) delaSablonniére, Justin Fetter and Megan (Dan) Bouvier; Linda (Terry) Ochitwa of Watson and family, Darcie (Brad) Anderson and children Selena and Kiera, Jodie (Blair) Griller and children Payton and Jorja, Carie (Brandi) Ochitwa and children Brodie, Madison and Brooklyn, and Desie Ochitwa (fiancée Katelynn Emmons); Ruth (Perry) Anderson of Wadena and family, Aimee and Kellie Anderson; Rose Stuckel (Dale Lozinsky) of Saskatoon and family, Melissa (Rob) Briscoe and son Grayson; Lori Wiebe of Calgary, AB; and Kenny Stuckel of Edgeley, SK, and family, Tina (Jason) Farthing and children Paige and Hailey, Shaun (Jan) Stuckel and children Kohen, Bentley and Skylar, Ryan (Tara) Stuckel and children Alyssa and Landen, James Stuckel (fiancée Krissi) and children Avry and Marley, Robert (Christine) Stuckel and son Samuel, Julieann Stuckel, and Alyson Stuckel; Glenda Stuckel of Lake Lenore (the mother of Kenny's children); and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie "Mary" (nee Bast) Stuckel (May 7, 2001); two granddaughters: Christa Gerspacher (1982), and Mary-Lee Stuckel (1984); son-in-law, Gary Fetter (1998); parents, Mathias and Agnes (nee Rick) Stuckel; and by all of his 12 siblings. The Prayer Service for Clarence was held at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Watson, on Friday, February 3, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., led by Fr. Darryl Millette. Scripture readers were Louise Knafelc and Ida Yakimenko. The Funeral Mass was offered at Holy Family Cathedral, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Stephen Morrisey, CSsR. Deacon Bob Williston provided the music ministry. Crossbearer was Garth Horn and the Urnbearer was Kenny Stuckel. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Clarence's life." Interment will take place at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery, Watson, at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to either the Sacred Heart R.C.
