The family of Connie Brataschuk (Harder) is saddened to announce the loss of a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend at the Humboldt District Hospital with her family by her side. To know Connie was to love her and she will be missed by many. Connie is survived by Greg, her husband and constant companion of 33 years and her children, their spouses and her grandchildren: Rona (Lyle Painter) and their children Jaylyn and Jacob; Riley (Marla) and their son Waylon; Reba (Nick Erhardt). Connie was the eldest of six children born to Lenard and Helen Harder and is also survived by her mother and all of her siblings. She spent the vast majority of her years in the Quill Lake/Clair area and graduated from the Quill Lake High School but also lived in Ontario, Alberta and other parts of Saskatchewan. While being a private person, Connie loved to laugh and spend time with those closest to her. She was a fiercely loyal friend and would do anything for the people she loved. She was never as happy as when surrounded by her children and grandchildren and was always looking for a reason to get everyone together. Whether it was camping, shopping, taking in a show or concert or just hanging out, Connie always had some trick up her sleeve to make it even more exciting. Sometimes it was just a surprise treat for the kids or a new game for the adults or project to do together. If the kids couldn't come to her, she would convince Greg that the yard work could wait and they would go on a road trip. Connie always gave freely of her time, energy and talents to her family. She made it her business to help with the new babies, prepare huge meals, bake everyone's favourite treats, find the most perfect gifts on the planet and spend hours and hours and hours of her time on hand embroidered masterpieces, beautiful homemade quilts and funny, personalized scrapbooks. No matter how many times Grandma came around a corner with a twinkle in her eye, carrying a mysterious shopping bag with some exciting surprise, the grandkids never seemed to expect it! She went out of her way, every day, to make life better for her family. Connie was rarely seen anywhere, doing anything, without Greg by her side. It didn't matter if they were laughing or arguing, they were passionate and loved the same things in this life. Greg has been by her side since they were teenagers and remained there throughout her entire battle with cancer. Connie stayed true to her character right to the end, joking with the staff, grinning the minute a grandchild entered the room and still putting everyone before herself. Even when she was too sick to eat, she was trying to make sure everyone else had and when she was in too much pain to sleep, she was telling Greg to get to bed early. Connie will be forever missed and never forgotten, she has left a huge hole in our hearts. Connie chose not have a funeral and has been cremated. A private graveside service will be held in the springtime at the Quill Lake Cemetery. We would like to thank all those who helped make her final days comfortable. Please direct charitable donations in Connie's name to the Saskatoon Cancer Centre or the Quill Lake Cemetery.
