Eleanore (nee Gaetz) Forster

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Eleanore (nee Gaetz) Forster of Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake, SK, (and formerly of Lake Lenore, SK), at her residence on Friday, October 12, 2012. She was 94 years of age. Eleanore "Nora" was born to Michael and Mary (nee June) Gaetz on January 10, 1918, on the family farm near Lake Lenore. She attended school at Lake Lenore and St. Brieux. After school, she helped with the field work, along with other duties that needed to be done around the farm. When Nora wasn't busy with farm work, she would fill her time with the orchestra that she played in. On September 28, 1936, Nora married the love of her life, Mathew Forster. They lived on a farm outside of Lake Lenore, where three sons and five daughters were born to them. While living there, Nora was involved with the Catholic Women's League, the Curling Club, the Seniors' Club, and the Bowling Club. Nora loved to play cards, fish, square dance, sing, attend to her flower and vegetable gardens, and play bingo. She was also an amazing cook and baker. Nora had a great sense of humor and always could make a person laugh. Family and friends were very important to her, and she was always a congenial hostess when they came to visit. She always made sure you did not leave her home with an empty stomach. Nora loved family gatherings with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Music was a big part of her life, right until her passing. The morning before she passed away, Nora had the privilege of listening to her children sing and play accordion for the last time for her. Nora will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her three sons and four daughters: Bud (Karen) Forster of Red Rock, BC; Bonnie (Jerry) Jurgens of Eatonia, SK; Betty Teiber of Lake Lenore, SK; Ellenore (Wes) Morrow of Nelson, BC; Terry (Garry) Wagner of Madison, SK; Don (Kathy) Forster of Humboldt, SK; and Tom (Shannon) Forster of Lake Lenore, SK; son-in-law, Bernard Harding, of Regina, SK; 33 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Rodney (Liz) Gaetz, and Jimmy (Gerry) Gaetz; sister-in-law, Gladys Gaetz; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Mathew Forster (October 17, 1997); one daughter, Rose Harding; five grandchildren: Kathleen, Grant, Jeffery, Devon, and Chad; two great-grandchildren: Brock and Meranda; son-in-law, Art Teiber; her parents, Michael and Mary (nee June) Gaetz; six brothers and three sisters: Larry, Luke, George, Michael, Mike, Rodney, Mary, Rosie, and Ethel; and by brothers-in-law: Ted, Hank, and Casmir. The Prayer Service for Eleanore was held at St. Anthony's R.C. Church, Lake Lenore, on Monday, October 15, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., presided by Alice Buttinger and Ralph Viczko. The scripture readers were Heather Teiber and Ange Sherstobitoff, and the eulogy, which was written by the family, was read by Eleanore's eldest granddaughter Linda Vail. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Anthony's R.C. Church on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Richard Meidl, OSB. Others taking part were: Gary Jurgens and Carmen Volk, scripture readers; Brenda Gartner, Trina Hindmarch, Mary Lou Jurgens McCoy, Melanie Gray, Britney Forster, and Morgan Forster, intentions; Holly Schneider and Gayle Dagenais, giftbearers; Martha Forster and Lorie Marksteiner, memorial table attendants. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Nora's life". Active pallbearers were Jim Forster, Rick Jurgens, Guy Teiber, Kristin Wagner, Jeremy Forster, and Dwight Forster. Interment followed at St. Anthony's R.C. Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer Association of Saskatchewan. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
