Elizabeth (nee Wurst) (Hegedus) DustSeptember 30, 1926 - June 10, 2012

The death of Mrs. Elizabeth (nee Wurst) (Hegedus) Dust of Bruno, SK, occurred at St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon, SK, on Sunday, June 10, 2012. She was 85 years of age. Elizabeth was born on September 30, 1926, to Andrew and Katherine (nee Goller) Wurst at Middle Lake, SK. She was raised in Wakaw, and attended Buda School in the district. Following her education, Elizabeth stayed home to help with her siblings and domestic chores. Eventually, she moved to Manitoba and worked as an egg grader at Winnipeg Cold Storage. Elizabeth returned to Wakaw and, in the fall of 1949, she married William Hegedus at St. Theresa's R.C. Church in Wakaw. Their union was blessed with one son, Larry. William died on March 30, 1984. Elizabeth kept herself occupied by working at Webb's Variety Store, and then at the Wakaw Nursing Home as a special care aide. She retired in 1986. That same year, Elizabeth married Joseph "Joe" Dust and moved to Bruno. She and Joe enjoyed travelling and took motor home trips to various locations in British Columbia, Ontario and the United States including Alaska, and to Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories. As well, they visited Hawaii. Other interests included square dancing, socializing at the Bruno Friendship Centre, singing with the Bruno Melodies, playing cards and bingo, gambling, attending functions at the Bruno Skating Rink, and following the 4-H cattle circuit. Elizabeth also loved tending to her flower beds, gardening, cooking, and visiting with friends and family. Attending Mass and working at the St. Bruno Cemetery with Joe, which they did for 12 years, were significant parts of her life. Of great importance to her was keeping up-to-date on the activities of her great-grandson Austin. Elizabeth will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Joseph Dust; son, Larry (Linda) Hegedus and family, Lorrie (Brad) Hegedus and her son Austin, and Lyle (Dorothy) Hegedus; step-son, Arden(Debbie) Dust and family, Krista (David) Erixon, and Kelsey; one sister, Margaret; four brothers: Clifford (Helen), Ernest (Kathy), Daniel (Elsie), and Irvin; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, William Hegedus; parents, Andrew and Katherine (nee Goller) Wurst; and by two sisters in infancy: Rose and Eva.
