Gilbert Michael Rabner was born at home to Frank and Theresa (nee Grieman) Rabner on the family farm east of Fulda.  He attended the Canvasback and Fulda Schools. After completing Grade 8, he helped out at home as well as being a hired hand on neighbouring farms. Gilbert and Rosemarie farmed the home place until 1978 when they moved to Humboldt where he did carpentry work as well as maintenance at the St. Augustine Church for several years. His interests included curling, golfing, ice fishing with his buddies and going for coffee at South 20. Gilbert will always be remembered for his quick wit and one-liner jokes.
