Harry Ernest FordMarch 2, 1915 - June 10, 2010With heavy hearts we announce that Ernest Ford died unexpectedly and peacefully at his farm home near Humboldt. He left a powerful legacy for all who knew and loved him. Mourning his loss are his loving wife of 62 years, Dulcie (nee Smith); his children: Ronald (Dianne, children, Kali and Clay), grandchildren, Jennie (Steve), Heidi, Andrew, David (Diana) and their mother Carol (Gordon) McLaren; Doreen (Glenn) Stumborg, grandchildren Lana, Kevin, Daniel (Alyssa), Paul, Robert; Kathleen (Robert) Greene, grandchildren, Naomi, Cara, Michael, Erica (Doug); Collin (Darlene) grandchildren, Harris, Simon; Dulcie (John) Kirzinger, grandchildren Jonathan (Alicia), Grant (Alissa), Matthew, Stephen; Janice (Richard) Matchett, grandchildren, Luke, James; great-grandchildren: Noah Stumborg, Katie Ford, Jayden and Jenna Kirzinger, Arianna and Elizabeth Kirzinger, Morgan and Tess Perkins; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Helena; brothers: Arthur (Vivian) and Stanley (Hettie); sister, Alice (Art) Owen; and nephew, Wayne Ford. Ernie was a wonderful father and grandfather, an eternal optimist seeking out the positive in all situations. He was a life-long learner with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. He loved the land and believed there is no better life than farming. Dad enjoyed card games, laughter, music, dancing, celebrations, reciting poems and songs. He lived in the moment and when you were in his presence you were what mattered most. His steadfast faith and strong convictions shaped his values and guided his actions of kindness, giving, service, conservation, productivity, ingenuity, integrity and resourcefulness. He believed personal and global health is everyone's responsibility and valued natural medicine and a healthy lifestyle. Setting a selfless and charitable example to the end, Ernest bequeathed his body to the advancement of medical education and science. Interment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rainbow of Hope for Children, the Foster Parents Plan of Canada, or to a preferred charity. A celebration of Ernest's life was held Thursday, June 17 at 10:30 a.m., at Westminster United Church, Humboldt. Arrangements were entrusted to Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
