Joyce Dielschneider (nee Killick)April 30, 1931- April 17, 2011It is with sadness that the family of Joyce Dielschneider announces her passing on Sunday April 17, 2011 at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon. Joyce was born and raised in Melville, SK. After her high school graduation, she trained at the Grey Nuns School of Nursing at The Pas, Manitoba, graduating in 1952. She returned to Melville where she was a nurse at St. Peter's Hospital. In 1956, she married Peter Dielschneider, and the couple raised three children. The family moved to Humboldt in 1973 and Joyce and Peter later moved to Saskatoon in 1998. A devoted community member, Joyce was the principal organist for many years at St. Henry's Parish in Melville. She was an active CWL member and worked tirelessly on the building committee for the church in Humboldt. Known as "Mom" to all her children's friends, Joyce dedicated her time to numerous sports and dance activities, as well as volunteering at the Music Festival both in Melville and Humboldt every year. She also found time to serve on the board of Futuristic Industries in Humboldt, which coordinated the community SARCAN. An avid sports fan, she watched the Blue Jays and cheered the Riders every year, most recently at her own Grey Cup party in the Saskatoon Convalescent Home. Nothing made Joyce happier than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life, and countless hours were spent with them on the acreage in Humboldt, at the condo in Saskatoon, and on vacations in Vancouver, Fairmont, Hawaii, and Mexico. Gramma's laugh always lit up the room, and her mischievousness and sense of fun often made her the chief troublemaker in many adventures. Joyce is survived by her husband of 54 years, Peter, children Joanne (Warren) Hinz, Tom (Lois Nahirney) Dielschneider, and Bev (Curt) Van Parys; grandchildren Christopher and Daniel (Nancy) Hinz, Jasmyn and Kailyn Nahirney, and Johnna and Carter Van Parys; great-granddaughter Kelsey Joyce Hinz; sister Shirley Weese; brother Del Killick and his wife Elma; and sister-in-law Ethel Killick. She was predeceased by her parents Albert and Beatrice (Petroski) Killick; sister Dorothy Carpenter; brother Victor Killick; and sister Joan Dally. The family offers special thanks to Dr. A. Nayar for his dedicated service to Joyce during her long illness and to all the staff and caregivers at the Saskatoon Convalescent Home. The family would also like to thank Dr. J. Spelay, Dr. B. Berscheid, and all the staff on 5A Surgery and in Palliative Care at St. Paul's Hospital for their help in making Joyce's last weeks comfortable. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Lawrence Demong OSB on Wednesday April 20, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. Paul's Cathedral, Saskatoon. Flowers are gratefully declined.
