The death of Mrs. Lena Louise (nee Hoeflicher) Heidecker of Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake, SK, occurred at her residence on Monday, August 9, 2010. She was 89 years of age. Lena was born October 31, 1920 to Otto and Elizabeth Hoeflicher on the family farm located west of Middle Lake where she was also baptized. Lena was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church and attended Wilfred School. Lena and Edward Heidecker were married in Grace Lutheran Church on November 2, 1937. They raised their family of two daughters and one son on the Heidecker farm, located five miles east of Middle Lake. Their commitment to raising Polled Herefords brought them numerous championships and awards. Recently, Triple H Farm celebrated its 100 year anniversary and received the Century Family Farm Award. Lena was a passionate and active member of the church, playing the organ, leading the choirs and teaching Sunday School. Lena was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid since 1937. Her love of music also led her to join the Slough Grass Gang, which she enjoyed and participated in with many friends for many years. In 1978 Lena and Edward moved to their new home in Middle Lake. Shortly after that, Lena worked with many friends and family to create the Middle Lake History Book, of which she was very proud. Lena was very involved with all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and served as a great role model to the entire family. Family gatherings always included lots of laughter, lengthy discussions and lasting memories. Lena continued to live in town until 2002, when she moved to her home at Bethany Pioneer Village. Lena will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Ethel Johnson of Langley, BC and her family: Kevin Johnson of Vancouver, BC, Darren (Karen) Johnson and children Jade (fiancé Erik), Brianne and Kyle, all of Langley, BC and Kim Johnson of Victoria, BC; her son, Barry (Marj) Heidecker and their family Lyal (Michell) Heidecker and children, Taryn, Miranda, Morgan and Makenna, all of Middle Lake, SK; Leah (Joe) Campo and Lynn Dean, both of Langley, BC, her daughter Dianne's family, Jamie Mertz and Braden (Marnie) Mertz and son Garret, all of Saskatoon, and Denise (Jim) Eyre and children Jaycee and Nathan of Martensville, SK and by numerous nieces and nephews. Lena was predeceased by her husband, Edward Heidecker, her daughter, Dianne (Jim) Mertz; parents Otto and Elizabeth (nee Abel) Hoeflicher; her brother, Art (Mabel) Hoeflicher and by her sister Ella (Hans) Reutlinger.
