Robert A. BarclayDecember 5, 1926 - January 22, 2011 The death of Mr. Robert "Bob" A. Barclay of Central Parkland Lodge, Lanigan, (and formerly of LeRoy), occurred at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, on Saturday, January 22, 2011. He was 84 years of age. Bob was born on December 5, 1926, to George and Frances (nee Moore) Barclay in Saskatoon. At that time, the family was residing in Young, where Bob spent the first seven years of his life. In 1933, the Barclays moved to the Moore farm in the Jansen area, six miles south of LeRoy. They resided there until 1936, when they moved to a farm four miles east and one mile north of LeRoy. Bob attended Natika Rural School where he completed Grade 8, then attained his secondary education at LeRoy High School. He then ventured out to join the workforce in Saskatoon and Vancouver for a while, but returned home when his father needed his help on the farm. On October 17, 1951, Bob married Marian Lamont. They took over the Barclay family farm, where they worked and raised a family of four sons. In November 1993, Bob and Marian moved to Lanigan. The farming lifestyle had been one of Bob's greatest passions and, although he was no longer physically living on the farm, mentally, he never left it. Over the years, Bob served on many levels of several boards including the LeRoy Credit Union, Sask. Wheat Pool, LeRoy Co-op, Grace United Church, and was also a member of the Kinsmen, LeRoy Elks and the Masons. In addition, sports had always been an important part of Bob's life. He especially enjoyed going fishing and goose hunting, and was a coach and great supporter of his sons as they pursued their hockey and curling activities. Bob's other interests were woodworking, carpentry, current events, and he was always ready to engage in political discussions. In August 2009, due to failing health, Bob became a resident of Central Parkland Lodge, his home until the present. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Marian (nee Lamont) of Lanigan; four sons and their families: Brett of Regina and children Robyn and Rachel; Glenn (Shirley) of Biggar and children Kristina and Danielle; Ross (Heather) of LeRoy and children Bennett Larson and daughter Emilya, and Kyle Larson; and Greg (Vicky) of Camrose, AB, and daughter Sarah; two sisters: Verna Goad of Chicago, IL, and Fay (Ed) Schroeder of Lethbridge, AB; sister-in-law, Bernice Barclay of North Battleford; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Frances (nee Moore) Barclay; his brother, Walter Barclay; and his brother-in-law, Paul Goad. The Funeral Service for Bob was held at Knox United Church, Lanigan, on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Brenda Curtis. Others taking part were: Brett Barclay, urn bearer; Brett and Glenn Barclay, Eulogy; Ross Barclay, Last Memories and poem; Sister's Memories written by Verna and Fay, read by Ed Schroeder; Courtney Fisher, Tribute; Greg Barclay, Video Tribute; Howard and Carter Lamont, ushers; Sarah and Danielle Barclay, memorial table attendants; Kristina and Robyn Barclay, memorial book attendants; Honoured Farm Neighbour Families: Anders, Renz, Moore, Zentner, Gierl, Loeffler, Gordon, Schroeder, Sproule and Johnson; Maureen Bartel, Soloist; Mason Brethren, Masonic Tribute.
